Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a SC or compact RN license and recent cardiac/neuro experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit of an acute care hospital
- Patient population includes critically ill cardiac and neuro patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Shift is 3x12s, days, 7a-7p, with every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating to similar units within scope is required, with priority given to travelers
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Provide high-acuity nursing care to complex cardiovascular and neuro patients
- Royal blue scrubs required
- All required modules must be completed pre-start (average 4 hours)
- RTO must be disclosed and approved in advance; more than 7 days of non-holiday RTO or any holiday RTO may delay approval
- No local travelers accepted based on 60-mile radius rule
- Holiday coverage required as assigned
- All employees and contractors may be assigned emergency response tasks during hurricane season (June-November)
- Free parking available on site
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or similar experience required, 2 years preferred
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA only)
- Demonstrated experience caring for cardiac and neuro patient populations
- Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
- Only candidates living more than 60 miles from the hospital are eligible
- Previous MUSC permanent staff, including PRN, must be separated for at least 1 year before being considered
