This position is for a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to work night shifts in a large Level I Trauma Center and Magnet teaching hospital in Charleston, SC. The RN will float among various medical-surgical units, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and flexibility to cover different floors. American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position working night shifts with 2 years of experience required and flexibility to float between units.
Responsibilities- Work in a large Level I Trauma Center, Magnet teaching hospital with 820 beds
- Assigned to float among various medical-surgical floors
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30), totaling 36 hours per week
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call required
- Patient ratios may vary by unit
- Uses EPIC for charting; prior experience preferred
- May float between main hospital and Ashley River tower
- Duties include providing care to diverse Med/Surg patient populations across multiple units
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed and requires manager approval
- Royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms is the required scrub color for RNs
- All staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
- Completion of pre-start online education modules required
- Parking requires a one-time $20 permit fee and must use designated garage
- Holiday coverage included in scheduled rotation
- Requests for more than 7 consecutive days of non-holiday time off will require special approval
- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Willingness to float to different med/surg units
- Must provide Social Security Number and driver's license for consideration
- Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year prior to being eligible as a traveler
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Must comply with a 60 mile local radius rule
