Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with open-heart experience, valid NJ or compact RN license, and required certifications for a day shift surgery position.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Surgery/Operating Room department
• Hospital setting with a perioperative patient population including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults
• 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 15:00
• Call is required with no exceptions
• Open-heart cases are performed on this unit
• Responsible for direct and indirect perioperative patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates care with surgeons and anesthesiologists and supervises OR technicians and other personnel
• Participation in performance improvement, unit meetings, and in-services is required
• Must adhere to all regulatory, policy, and procedure standards for the unit and hospital
• Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure quality patient care and efficient workflow
• Call participation is mandatory for this role
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience with at least 1 year of perioperative experience or on-the-job training
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from American Heart Association or Red Cross
• Current PALS certification from AHA or Red Cross, obtained within 30 days of hire
• Completion of Workplace Violence Prevention training (DCI/BVP) or willingness to complete upon hire
• Experience with pre-op and post-op care required
• CNOR certification preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
