American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with strong orthopedics and endoscopy skills for an acute care surgical services assignment requiring current ID or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Position is based in the Operating Room within an acute care hospital environment
- Covers surgical services with a caseload averaging eight cases per day, focusing on ortho, sports medicine, general, gynecological, C-sections, and endoscopy cases
- Four operating suites plus one endoscopy suite are utilized
- No RN scrubbing responsibilities required
- EMR systems include EpicCare Inpatient for documentation, TDOC for instrument tracking, and ProVation for endoscopy
- Schedule is Monday to Friday with 8-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Call requirements are typically four weeknights per month and one full weekend per month; holiday call may be assigned
- On-call response time requires being within 30 minutes of the hospital while on-call
- OR staff cover endoscopy cases as part of floating requirements
- Participation in cleaning and turning over OR suites is required for all personnel
- Travelers are paired with a preceptor during a 5-day unit-specific orientation covering hospital norms and system values
- Team consists of RNs, CSTs, and orderlies with Charge Nurse and ANM support
- Blue scrubs provided and required per surgical services dress code
- Must be prepared to adjust schedule as needed by the department
- No blocked scheduling or special schedule requests will be approved
- Must be away from any permanent position at the facility for at least one year prior to applying for a travel assignment
- Active ID or compact state RN license required at time of consideration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS recommended
- Minimum of three years recent Operating Room RN experience
- Demonstrated strong orthopedics background and endoscopy experience required
- Previous travel nurse experience is required
- Must provide two professional references, with at least one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
- Copy of driver's license required
- No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius per policy
