Locum Family Practice/General Medicine physician role providing Compensation & Pension and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans across Missouri on an as-needed basis. Duties are interview-focused medical evaluations and physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength) without providing treatment, with flexible half- or full-day shifts and travel between sites. Requires MD/DO, state licensure (or eligibility), board-certified/eligible in relevant specialty, and documentation/reporting proficiency; high pay per hour and bonus for qualification.
Locum - Physician - General Medicine MO
Join a vital mission to serve our nation's Veterans as a Locum Physician specializing in General Medicine. This high-impact, flexible role offers you the opportunity to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments nationwide, contributing directly to the well-being of those who served. With a focus on interview-based evaluations complemented by physical assessments, you will play a key role in facilitating accurate health appraisals without providing treatment, all while working within a well-supported and professional environment.
Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with active medical license in Missouri or eligible for licensure.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related general medicine fields.
- Proven experience conducting compensation and pension examinations or similar assessments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interview and evaluate patients.
- Ability to perform physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
- Professional integrity and adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Efficient time management and documentation skills to complete exams and submit reports promptly.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience working with Veterans Affairs or government contracts.
- Familiarity with the VA's evaluation protocols and paperwork.
- Experience with telehealth or remote medical assessments.
- CPR or other relevant certifications.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably including exposure to disability or compensation examinations.
- Prior work in general medicine, internal medicine, or related specialties.
Other Requirements:
- Own practice location with a minimum radius of 50 miles; must be a local candidate.
- Willingness to work PRN (as-needed), with flexibility to choose half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts.
- Ability to perform exams at various locations across Missouri, including Cape Girardeau, St. Joseph, Mountain Grove, and others, with travel covered in rates.
- Complete required training and perform initial exams to qualify for a $650 bonus.
- Start date: December 31, 2025.
- Pay Rate: $624 per hour, with flat rates of $800 for half-day shifts and $1,600 for full-day shifts.
