Medical Laboratory Scientist / MLT | Baudette, MN | Contract
We are seeking an experienced and independent Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join a Critical Access Hospital in Baudette. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong generalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work autonomously.
Position Details
- Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist / MLT
- Location: Baudette 56623-2855
- Schedule: Monday – Friday (Day Shifts starting at 7AM, 8AM, or 9AM)
- Employment Type: Contract
- On-Call: Required (nights + 1 in 3 weekends)
- Radius Rule: 50 miles
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing across multiple departments:
- Hematology
- Chemistry
- Coagulation
- Urinalysis
- Blood Bank
- Conduct manual differentials and complex lab testing
- Perform phlebotomy as required
- Accurately document results using Meditech LIS/EMR
- Work independently without on-site supervision
- Ensure compliance with lab safety and quality standards
Requirements
- BLS Certification – Required
- Certification Required (Any ONE):
- MLS or MLT via ASCP
- MLS or MLT via AMT
- Must be a Generalist
- Travel Experience: Minimum 1 year required
- Strong experience in:
- Blood Bank
- Manual differentials
- Phlebotomy
- Ability to work independently in a critical access lab setting
Experience Requirements
- MLT Candidates:
- 3+ years Blood Bank experience
- 2+ years manual differential experience
- MLS Candidates:
- 1+ year Blood Bank experience
- 1+ year manual differential experience
Schedule & Call Details
- On-Call:
- 1–2 nights per week
- 1 out of every 3 weekends
- Weekend Call: Friday 5:30 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
- Response Time: Must respond within 20 minutes
- Holiday Call: Required
Work Environment
- Critical Access Hospital setting
- No lab assistants – full independence required
- Supportive onboarding with 8–10 shifts of orientation
- Dress Code: Scrubs of your choice
