American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in an acute care setting requiring a current CA RN license and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a 16-20 bed ICU within an acute hospital setting
- Adult and occasional pediatric patient population including MedSurg, neuro, cardiac, trauma (not transferred out), psych, and advanced therapies such as ECMO, Impella, CRRT, balloon pumps, TAVR, and EVAR
- Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
- Shifts are 12 hours, nights (7p-7a), with every other weekend required
- Floating required to telemetry unit with 4:1 ratio as needed
- On-call possible based on census, with a 30-minute response time if called in
- Cerner EMR utilized for documentation
- Phillips telemetry and Draeger vents in use
- IV team and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy available
- Charge nurse available and does not carry a patient assignment
- Two shift ICU orientation provided before working independently
- Responsible for providing advanced critical care in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment
- Expected to work holidays as scheduled with holiday RTO considered but not guaranteed
- Navy scrubs required
- Intensivist in house 24 hours, with on-call availability at night
- Must be available to cover weekends and float as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active CA RN license in hand at time of application (pending not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- PALS and CCRN certifications preferred
- Two professional references: one supervisor reference from the past year and one peer or supervisor reference from within the past 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
- Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia and sterile technique assessment as part of onboarding
