American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role requiring acute neuro experience and proficiency with specialized drips.
Responsibilities- Work in a mixed acuity PCU unit that includes medical, oncology, and stroke patients
- Mixed patient population with both medical surgical and progressive levels of care, including cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6 for med-surg and 1:3-4 for PCU patients
- Responsibilities include management of Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin, and Lasix drips, as well as post-heart cath and post-pacemaker patients
- Use of BiPap and care of unstable stroke patients is required
- Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (6:00–18:30)
- Cerner is the charting system used and experience is required
- All travelers will float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Responsibilities include management of cardiac, neuro, and oncologic patient care at progressive and med-surg levels
- Must be able to work two out of three major holidays during the contract
- Scrub uniform is a red top with black bottoms
- Free parking is available on site
- Up to 5 days of requested time off can be auto-approved
- All candidates must be willing to float as assigned
- Active IN or compact RN license required and must be in hand before start
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Solid neuro experience in an acute care setting is required
- Experience managing drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and insulin
- Graduation from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE is required
- Cerner charting experience required
- First time travelers are accepted
- Former permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
