American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position working night shifts with telemetry verification and insulin drip experience required.
Responsibilities- Position located on a 29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital
- Patient population includes orthopedics, neurology, and telemetry patients
- Typical patient ratios are 1:5 to 1:6, especially 1:6 on night shifts
- Care involves wounds vacs, central and PICC lines, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and non-titratable drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Insulin
- Ancillary staff includes 1-2 support personnel per shift depending on census and phlebotomy for lab draws
- Nurses are required to read and verify telemetry strips once per shift using Epic
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
- No local candidates accepted due to a 50-mile radius rule
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Responsibilities include providing comprehensive care, medication administration, and interdisciplinary coordination for a diverse Med/Surg Telemetry patient population
- Collaboration with ancillary staff and access to phlebotomy support for lab draws
- Support and study guides provided for the required dysrhythmia exam
- Must be willing to work every other weekend and cover holidays as assigned
- Testing and certification validation required prior to starting
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on first day with two attempts allowed
- Experience with insulin drips required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Travel nursing experience not required
