PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Shelby, North Carolina 28150
• Healthcare Setting: 32-bed Progressive Care Unit in a 241-bed hospital
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (8/25/2025 – 11/22/2025)
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Coverage: 75% of holidays during contract
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Free Parking
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,570–$1,680

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Progressive Care Unit RN experience
• Clinical experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care, and central line management
• Ability to float within the region and scope of practice as needed
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain, stroke, abdominal illnesses, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and more
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage cardiac drips
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and manage central lines and chest tubes
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Accurately document care and interventions using EPIC EMR
• Float to other nursing units or facilities within the region as needed
• Contribute to a supportive, family-oriented unit culture
