Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Department, requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least two years of ED experience.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in a 28-bed community Emergency Department with 3 trauma bays
  • Serves patients of all ages with a range of medical complaints, including trauma, MVA, mass casualty, GSW, stabbings, stroke alerts, and STEMI cases
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5, with up to 6 during higher volumes
  • 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and major holiday required
  • Must work in a fast-paced environment with minimal daily trauma cases
  • EPIC EMR is used and previous EPIC experience is very strongly preferred
  • Responsibilities include providing nursing care for patients with urgent and emergent health problems
  • Will coordinate care as part of an interprofessional team and serve as point of contact for patient care coordination
  • Must model core safety behaviors and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Candidate will care for individuals across the lifespan and a variety of emergent conditions
  • Onsite pass/fail EKG testing is required on the first day, with two opportunities to pass
  • Candidates must be willing to cover major holidays and work alternating weekends
  • Locals are not accepted per 50-mile radius rule
Requirements
  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum two years of ED experience and some travel experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
  • CPI or de-escalation training required
  • Must provide copy of nursing diploma
  • Proof of address required and candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Must pass dysrhythmia (EKG) exam with two attempts allowed (study guide provided)
  • At least one supervisory reference required
