Overview:
An established regional water utility is seeking a Civil Engineer (PE) with 10–15 years of experience to support the planning, design, and management of potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure. This role focuses on reliable service delivery, system optimization, and long-term capital improvements across a diverse utility service area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering efforts for water distribution, wastewater collection, and reclaimed water systems, including pipelines, storage facilities, pump stations, and treatment-related improvements.
- Develop and execute capital improvement projects that enhance system capacity, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform hydraulic modeling, system analysis, feasibility studies, and asset evaluations for water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Prepare and seal engineering drawings, specifications, cost opinions, technical reports, and permitting documents.
- Manage project budgets, scopes, schedules, and contractor coordination from concept through construction.
- Coordinate closely with operations staff to support system performance, emergency response planning, and operational troubleshooting.
- Represent the utility in meetings with municipalities, regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors, and internal leadership.
- Review development submittals, system impact studies, and connection applications to ensure compliance with utility standards.
- Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Support long-term planning efforts, including master planning, system modeling updates, and infrastructure resiliency initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to obtain reciprocity if required.
- 10–15 years of experience in water utility engineering, including distribution/collection systems, permitting, and capital project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of applicable design standards, regulatory requirements, and public utility operations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, or equivalent.
- Proven success in managing multidisciplinary projects and working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and technical writing skills.
