American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position, requiring CVICU experience with fresh open heart cases and a NJ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in the CVICU of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes fresh open hearts, ventilated patients, patients with chest tubes and lumbar drains, and those with chronic or acute renal failure
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:1 to 1:2
- Travelers will float to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and all IMC units as needed
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-07:30)
- Every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays required
- EMR system used is Epic
- Main responsibilities include managing critically ill cardiovascular patients and recovering fresh open heart surgery cases
- May assist with chest tube insertion/removal and various advanced cardiac devices
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- RWJBH former employees must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning for a travel assignment
- Block scheduling is not available
- Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
- CVICU experience with fresh open heart patients (e.g., CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR) required; SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training
- Must have experience with advanced devices including Impella, IABP, and CRRT (Prismaflex)
- Skills required include post-op open heart recovery, use of BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, 12-lead EKG, Swan, FloTrac, Temp Pacers, arterial lines, and ventilators
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
