A Large Cancer Center connected to hospital is seeking a Hematologist/Oncologist for locum tenens coverage.
About the Facility LocationThe facility is located in Eastern Michigan.
About the Clinician's WorkdayThis position is in an outpatient cancer center serving adult and geriatric patients, with a practice mix of approximately 60% hematology and 40% oncology. The role will primarily focus on lung cancer, with secondary responsibilities for general/benign hematology patients not assigned to other specialists. The practice includes six physicians, with inpatient and outpatient coverage supported by five APPs each. In the outpatient clinic, the physician will see 8-16 patients per day (with 7-8 hours scheduled for appointments), and inpatient rounding across two hospitals averages a census of 22 patients, including 4-5 new patients. The clinical area is oncology in an outpatient setting, trauma level 2. Chemotherapy is administered by a nurse oncologist, and the EMR system is Epic.
