Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical Specialty Float Pool position with stepdown and transplant patient care required.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Float Pool with assignment to the 4W Surgical Transplant unit
- Work with post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients
- Mixed stepdown and acute care floor requiring close monitoring of complex patients
- Three 12-hour day shifts per week
- No local candidates accepted; must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Role involves monitoring for infection, rejection, and delivering timely medications to transplant patients
- Responsibilities include organizing, planning, evaluating, and delegating nursing care for an assigned patient group
- Expected to assist with minor diagnostic procedures and treatment under physician supervision
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills and cultural sensitivity with patients and families
- Must maintain positive working relationships and function as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Must be comfortable with computer documentation and basic technology use
Requirements
- Active OK or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care (PCU) experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Transplant patient care experience preferred
