This position supports Clean Harbors’ environmental and waste management operations by maintaining smooth yard operations and minimizing storage time.
Position Overview
The Forklift Operator supports efficient, on-site logistics operations with a strong emphasis on cross-docking—moving materials rapidly between inbound and outbound docks to minimize storage time and improve delivery speed. This hands-on role is responsible for safe equipment movement, accurate staging, and adherence to all facility and regulatory safety standards. The position plays a critical part in maintaining smooth, timely, and cost-effective yard operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
Hours: 6:00 - 3:30 PM
- Safely operate yard vehicles to transfer bins, vans, trailers, and tanker trucks throughout the facility.
- Support cross-docking by quickly positioning inbound and outbound equipment at designated docks to minimize storage time and accelerate turnaround.
- Ensure wheel chocks and jack stands are properly placed and operational prior to any movement.
- Review MSDS and manifests when handling new or unfamiliar hazardous materials.
- Respond to and clean up spills following established safety procedures.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections—including brakes, fuel, fluids, lights, and tire pressure—to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Accurately placard and stage equipment in accordance with permitted storage and compliance requirements.
- Maneuver vehicles safely in tight, high-traffic yard areas while adhering to speed limits and site driving rules.
QUALIFICATIONS
What does it take to work at Clean Harbors?
- High School diploma or equivalent required;
- Must be 18 years or older;
- 1+ Years of related experience;
- Fork lift experience preferred (Not Required);
- Ability to use computer;
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds;
