Key responsibilities
Treatment delivery:
Use a radiation machine to deliver radiation therapy as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.
Precisely position the patient for treatment and use medical imaging equipment to verify accuracy.
Monitor patients for any unusual reactions during treatment sessions.
Patient care and support:
Explain the treatment plan and procedure to patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
Provide basic patient education, such as instructions for skin care and the daily routine.
Monitor patients for side effects and discuss concerns with the patient and the oncology team.
Administration and record-keeping:
Maintain meticulous and accurate records of each treatment, including dose, machine settings, and patient observations.
Calibrate, operate, and perform basic maintenance on the radiation equipment to ensure safety and proper function.
Collaborate with other members of the oncology team to coordinate care and suggest changes to treatment plans when necessary.
