We are seeking an experienced Retail Pharmacist to support a community-focused, hospital-affiliated independent pharmacy. The Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe and effective dispensing of medications, patient counseling, supervision of pharmacy staff, and compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations. This role emphasizes personalized patient care, strong community engagement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Dispense and compound medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions and regulations
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, interactions, dosing, and contraindications
- Provide patient counseling on medication use, side effects, storage, and adherence
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns in compliance with staffing ratios
- Maintain pharmacy inventory, including controlled substances and hazardous drugs
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance, safety, and loss prevention policies
- Resolve third-party insurance and billing issues
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the pharmacy system
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to support patient care
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain community trust
- Active California Pharmacist License
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited program
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
- Retail or community pharmacy experience
- Experience in independent pharmacy or rural healthcare settings
- Familiarity with third-party prescription systems and inventory management
- Primarily standing, walking, and bending throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Willingness to work extended hours if operational needs require
