American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night Shift Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology position requiring an AZ or compact RN license and strong competency in sterile technique.
Responsibilities- Work in a 32-bed acute care Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit
- 85% oncology patients, 15% medical/surgical and telemetry patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
- Uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry equipment with EKG interpretation
- Handles bipap and cpap equipment, with SWAT IV RN available as needed
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with a minimum of 1 weekend per month and holidays per rotation
- Required to float to other MedSurg/Telemetry units
- 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided
- Responsibilities include Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes, wound care, restraints, and patient lifts
- Charge RN and oncology resource RN available on the unit
- Support from 2 PCTs on days and nights, plus 24/7 RT and pharmacy support
- Expected to maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
- Navy scrubs required
- SIMs Lab skills assessment required; failure to pass after 2 attempts results in ineligibility for 6 months
- First day includes a pass/fail exam on sterile field technique
- Returning travelers must not have been directly employed at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Chemo certification is a plus
- Competency in sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change required
- Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique exams (up to 2 attempts) prior to start
- Experience with Cerner EMR and EKG interpretation necessary
- Must provide copy of driver’s license at time of consideration
- Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
