POSITION SUMMARY

Provides equipment and supplies needed for ambulatory surgical patient care in a timely and accurate manner.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
1. High school graduate.
2. Previous CSR experience

Workplace Experience:
Perioperative Care in an Ambulatory Surgery Environment

Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment for the following CSR specialties: Surgical equipment, instruments and trays; Johnson & Johnson Sterrad Unit, Cube Washer, Amsco Flash Autoclave, Amsco Steam Sterilizer; Network computer system

Physical Environment:
An Ambulatory Surgical facility with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age. Environmental conditions include possible exposure to anesthetics, radiation, and infectious disease entities.

Physical Effort:
  1. Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
  2. Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
  3. Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  4. Requires the ability to lift, position, and transport with assistance up to 250 lbs.
  5. Able to work overtime/late shifts as required by the center

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. Collaborates with appropriate surgical team members to effectively coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
  2. Anticipates and provides equipment and supplies in a timely and organized manner based on the needs of the patient and surgeon.
  3. Cleans supplies/equipment according to decontamination policies and procedures.
  4. Assembles equipment according to established standards.
  5. Sterilizes equipment according to policies and procedures.
  6. Maintains quality checks of equipment according to policies and procedures.
  7. Assists with control of the CSR environment, maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to sanitation policies.
  8. Return equipment and supplies to proper place. Prepares OR rooms for next case if needed.
  9. Demonstrates responsibility for cost containment using supplies judiciously.
  10. Maintain position specific qualification
  11. Facilitates staff development, assists with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participates in the development of educational program for co-workers.
  12. Participates in operational activities such as quality improvement
