Position Overview
Optigy is seeking a Medical Director to oversee clinical healthcare services within a correctional setting in Abilene, TX. The Medical Director will lead a team of healthcare professionals and ensure high-quality, accessible care for all patients. This role requires sound medical judgment, strong leadership, and the ability to work independently while adhering to organizational policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced clinical services related to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Oversee and coordinate the delivery of comprehensive medical care within the correctional healthcare environment.
- Ensure that healthcare services meet established standards and comply with organizational policies, state regulations, and national guidelines.
- Supervise physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, including interviewing, hiring, and performance management.
- Direct and evaluate staff performance, address concerns, and promote continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with nursing, administrative, and regional leadership teams to ensure seamless healthcare delivery.
- Participate in meetings, reporting, and quality initiatives as directed.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Active Texas medical license and DEA
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or related specialty
- Minimum of 23 years of clinical experience in primary care, correctional medicine, or public health preferred
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage clinical operations effectively
