The Community Support Specialist at Friends in Action Clubhouse provides direct support and rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental illness, promoting the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. The role involves managing daily unit work, encouraging member participation, coordinating community outreach, and facilitating transitional employment opportunities. This position requires leadership, organizational skills, and engagement in evening, weekend, and holiday activities to support members' recovery and community integration.

Friends in Action Clubhouse is located near the BJC Behavioral Health Southeast site and the Friendship House apartments at 657 Walton Drive in Farmington. - https://www.bjcbehavioralhealth.org/Friends-in-Action-Clubhouse
- Shift information: Flexible Day Shift, at least one evening a month (11-7), one weekend day every 4 months, 2 of the 6 major holidays
- Clients: Adults within the CPR program who join Friends in Action Clubhouse
- Location: Onsite at the Friends in Action Clubhouse. Our EWH (evening, weekend, holiday program) may be offsite at a park, in the community shopping/out to eat, at a parade, etc.
- Who will this person interact with on a regular basis? All Clubhouse members daily who attend, we have about 35-50 members a day at the Clubhouse.
- MUST HAVE skills for this position: self-starter, ability to lead a large group, ability to move from task to task, ability to guide/cheerlead a Clubhouse member to get that person started on a task and then move on to the next member, then back to the first member. This open position is for the Business Unit so would prefer computer skills including Excel, Publisher, etc.
Overview
BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.
Psychosocial Rehab services are primarily delivered in a group setting. These services develop, support and optimize the quality of life and functional abilities of people with serious and persistent mental illnesses.
