OB Hospitalist Locum Tenens | Salisbury, Maryland
Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Board Certified OB/GYN Physicians for an exciting OB Hospitalist locum opportunity at a large regional medical center in Salisbury, Maryland. This is a new hospitalist program launching in Fall 2025, offering long-term locum coverage, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to shape the foundation of care delivery in a busy, well-resourced facility.
Assignment Highlights
- Location: Salisbury, Maryland
- Facility Beds: 266-bed hospital | 13 Labor & Delivery beds
- Contract Type: Locum Tenens – OB Hospitalist
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Long-term (6+ months)
- Schedule: Flexible – days, nights, weekends available
- Shifts: 24-hour in-house shifts (8a handoff)
- Shifts/Month: 15–20 shifts expected (no minimum required)
Program & Facility Profile- Annual Deliveries: ~2,160
- NICU: Level III – 24/7 neonatology coverage
- Anesthesia: 24/7 in-house coverage
- OBED Visits: None
- Support: Pediatric/Neonatology hospitalists perform circumcisions; surgical team provided by main OR
- EMR: Epic
- Coverage Model: 1 OB/GYN Hospitalist onsite 24/7
Clinical Scope & Duties- Care for all unassigned OB/GYN patients
- Evaluate all unassigned triage patients
- Obstetric admissions, labor management, and deliveries
- Postpartum and GYN rounding and discharges with follow-up arrangements
- Perform consults for inpatient and ED patients
- Manage obstetric emergencies (shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, etc.)
- Assist on emergent GYN surgeries (with backup coverage)
- Collaborate with Maternal Fetal Medicine on transfers and high-risk cases
- Support and supervise Certified Nurse Midwives in the hospital setting
- Assist community clinicians with C-sections when available
- Collaborate and engage community OB/GYNs in patient care
- Call coverage for community physicians after the first 3 months of program launch
Candidate Requirements- Board Certification: OB/GYN
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years active practice preferred
- Skills: Strong OB and emergent GYN skills, comfortable with high-risk deliveries
- Flexible with shifts (days/nights/weekends)
- Team-oriented and patient-centered approach
