American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting, requiring at least 1 year of relevant experience and current WA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Labor & Delivery unit with 2 L&D rooms and use of acute care beds for postpartum care
- Approximately 50-60 births per year with low acuity and most high-risk cases referred out
- 12-hour shifts with set scheduling; shift times are typically 6:00a-6:30p or 6:00p-6:30a
- Schedule includes 4 days on, 2 days off, then 2 days on, 6 days off in rotation
- Weekend shifts required, typically every other weekend
- May float to the Acute MedSurg unit if there are no OB patients
- No OB nurse aides or surgical techs; RNs cover all L&D patient care
- C-Sections performed in OR with PACU recovery; OB RNs provide newborn care, not circulating
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Cerner; fetal monitoring with Fetal Link system
- RNs are responsible for labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, including monitoring patients on magnesium
- 1:1 nurse to patient ratio is standard; occasional 1:2 ratio possible
- Charge RN is responsible for the entire hospital during all shifts
- Scrub attire should be clean and professional with no specific color requirement
- One-day orientation provided on the unit
- Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
- On-call anesthesia coverage; OB providers in clinic during the day and available within 20 minutes after hours
- No in-house respiratory therapist; RNs must manage basic respiratory equipment for newborns
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year recent experience in Labor & Delivery, antepartum, and postpartum nursing care
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and intermediate or higher C-EFM
- Experience titrating drips, including insulin and magnesium
- Must be able to work shifts on the Acute MedSurg floor as needed
