Position Overview
An established healthcare organization in Massachusetts is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterology Physician for inpatient locum tenens coverage. The provider will manage floor, ED, ICU, and emergent GI consults, including endoscopic procedures, during a one-week call rotation. This role supports ongoing coverage during a retirement transition and will remain active until a permanent provider is secured.

Call Ratio: Approximately 1:4
Setting: Inpatient only
Average Census: 4 12 patients per day
Lab & Imaging: Onsite lab and X-ray available
EMR: EPIC
Privileges: No temporary or emergency privileges
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $316/hour
Overtime Rate: $446/hour
Night Call Rate: $451/hour
Weekend Call Rate: $2,376 flat
Travel & Lodging: Fully covered
Required Procedures
Esophageal Dilatation & Manometry
Small Bowel Biopsy
Sigmoidoscopy / Colonoscopy
Liver Biopsy
Upper GI Endoscopy (diagnostic & therapeutic):
With biopsy, cautery, PEG, banding/injection of varices, and foreign-body removal
EUS/ERCP not required
Requirements
Board Certified or Eligible in Gastroenterology (BC preferred)
Active Massachusetts License Required
BLS (AHA) Required
ERCP Certification Optional (Nice to Have)
Inpatient Experience Preferred
No outpatient clinic duties
