The Christiana Hospital Imaging Department is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Imaging Tech Assistant to work the day shift.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Imaging Service assistant III supports activities under the direction and supervision of the Registered Radiology Nurses and Imaging Technologists. Must demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients including but not limited to, patient care skills and procedural scheduling and registration.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to patients in various stages of development.
- Assist with escorting of patients to and from imaging departments and procedural areas.
- Prepare imaging and radiology care unit rooms for procedures, ability to turn around rooms for high volume needs
- Demonstrates competency in the ability to use imaging and systemwide supported software, including but not limited to Power Chart, Soarian, PACS, and other Cerner products.
- Requests and obtains medical records in preparation for patient’s exams.
- Schedules routine and complex imaging procedures.
- Performs registration for procedural imaging exams.
- Acts as the liaison for patients, relaying information per the direction of a provider.
- Responds to patient crisis situations and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities.
- Performs defined procedures on point of care instrumentation. (Accu-checks, IV, Vitals, etc)
- Communicates to patients, employees, and physicians utilizing courteous verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintains charts according to ChristianaCare guidelines, coordinates maintenance of unit supplies (e.g., storeroom, central, maintenance, etc.).
- Ability to maintain a clean work environment.
- Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Two years related to medical environment experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
BLS Certification required.

- Work in high volume area.
- Exposure to radiation, viruses, blood borne pathogens, other pathogens, sharps, poor lighting, chemical, and electrical hazards.
- Exposure to high magnetic field strength (when applicable).
