Under the direction of the on-duty Nursing Supervisor and Charge Nurse, the Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and effective collaboration with the emergency care team.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rapid, comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Administer treatments and medications accurately and in a timely manner per physician orders
- Perform clinical procedures such as EKGs, IV starts, blood draws, and emergency interventions
- Initiate and participate in emergency resuscitation following established protocols
- Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and accurately
- Maintain patient confidentiality and deliver care in a respectful, nonjudgmental manner
- Adhere to safety standards, infection control practices, and medication administration policies
- Assist other departments as needed and within scope of competency
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and effective communication at all times
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, licensure, and continuing education requirements
- Follow dress code and identification policies
- Report to work as scheduled and participate in required meetings and evaluations
- Uphold ethical standards and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active California RN license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR
- NRP and TNCC required within one year of hire
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to function independently in a high-acuity setting
- Willingness to work extended hours or alternate assignments as needed
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs during the course of duties
- Shift: Night shift (NOC)
