Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a Michigan RN license and willingness to float to different Med/Surg units.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Medical Surgical and Oncology Unit of a hospital setting
- 37-bed unit caring for a wide range of general medical and surgical patients
- Specializes in GI, urology, gynecological surgeries, and also cares for ortho/neurovascular and cardio/pulmonary cases
- Staffing ratio is typically 1:5-6 on nights, may flex to 1:8 with LPN support
- Expect to work 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00-19:30), with 36 or 48 hour weeks available
- Float to other Med/Surg units is required, usually about once per week
- Required to work every other weekend
- Care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses, including gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries
- RN may be assigned a higher patient ratio when paired with LPN support
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Local pay rates apply for travelers living within 50 miles
- Candidates must be able to work with a diverse healthcare team
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license or pending with ETA required
- BLS certification through AHA required or willingness to obtain before start
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required; 2 years preferred
- Must be available for the first 8 days of the assignment without interruption
- Must be willing to work collaboratively with RNs, LPNs, and Techs
