American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license and strong skills in IV therapy and trauma care.
Responsibilities- Work in the adult Emergency Department of a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 7p to 7a, three shifts per week
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with all emergency diagnoses, including trauma and neuro cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Use of EPIC EMR system is required
- Floating within skillset to similar units may be required
- Special equipment used includes Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
- Duties include providing emergency care to adult and geriatric patients, with responsibilities in triage, isolation precautions, and management of acute trauma cases
- Must be able to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
- Ability to respond to diverse emergencies including gunshot wounds, ortho trauma, and pediatric spinal cord injuries required
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Scrub attire must be any combination of navy blue and white
- All requested time off or scheduling accommodations must be submitted at the time of application
- Active NY Single State RN license required (no pending or compact licenses accepted)
- Minimum one year of Emergency Department RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience managing IV vasopressors, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilators
- Demonstrated ability to care for CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI, cardiac monitoring, and emergency trauma cases
- Must live at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered as a traveler
