We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist for a locum tenens position near Altoona, PA, starting ASAP and continuing through December 31, 2024. This role involves providing inpatient psychiatric coverage, including scheduled clinical hours and on-call duties.

• Location: Near Altoona, PA

• Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours + Call
• Shift Details:
  • Clinical Hours: Day shifts
  • On-Call: Weekdays 5 PM - 8 AM; Weekends include rounding on psychiatric units and ED consultations
• Allowed Holidays: 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Christmas Day, Labor Day

• Practice Setting: Inpatient
• EMR System: Epic
• Inpatient Beds: 29
• Patients Per Shift: 10-12
• Rounding: Both inpatient and consults
• Call Requirements:
  • Weekdays: On-call by phone from 5 PM to 8 AM the following morning
  • Weekends: Rounding on psychiatric units and consultations in ED and med/surg
  • On-Call Encounters: Approximately 2-4 admissions, behavioral issues, PRN medications, and non-routine incidents
  • Response Time: 30 minutes

• Board Certification: Required (Board Eligible acceptable)
• State License: Pennsylvania only
• Certifications:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Required
  • ACLS, ATLS, and PALS Not Required
• Fellowship: Preferred in Geriatric Psychiatry
• Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 14 days
• Hospital Privileges: Temporary privileges available
• Hospital Stroke Certification: No

• Practice Setting: Adult inpatient psychiatric unit
• Support Staff: Midlevel providers assist with new evaluations and summaries
• Scheduling:
  • September 9-13, 21-30
  • October 1-4, 7-9, 28-31
• Response Time: Prompt response required for on-call duties
