Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a MD or compact RN license and EKG rhythm interpretation proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Day shifts, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio is 1:6
- Care involves cardiac monitoring, genitourinary/renal cases, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
- Primary responsibilities include managing telemetry and med/surg patients and performing cardiac monitoring
- First time travelers are accepted for this position
- Online modules must be completed prior to start and during orientation
- Modules are recorded via transcripts, with up to 4 hours billable
- Return staff must have a gap of at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Holiday and weekend coverage is required on rotation
- No changes to requested time off once submitted; maximum of 7 days per contract with no RTO in the first two weeks
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Locals within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Must not have been employed at the facility within the past year to be eligible
