The Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician provides part-time medical leadership, overseeing psychiatric services, policies, and clinical staff within a healthcare clinic. Responsibilities include supervising psychiatric nurse practitioners, managing telepsychiatry and medication programs, and collaborating with hospital and emergency departments. The role dedicates most of the time to direct patient care, strategic planning, and ensuring clinical safety and compliance.
Salary: $165 per hour.
Shift Hours: The Part-time Medical Director position is a part-time working 5 to 10 hours during Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Up to 3 hours per week can be remote.
What you will be doing:
-Supervise 1 Psych NP
-Create, implement, and monitor adherence to policies related to psychiatric services such as medication prescribing, monitoring side effects, integration with medical services, specialized services and psychotherapy for those interested.
-Review and revise the psychiatric documentation in the clinic s electronic medical record.
-Management/oversight of the implementation of buprenorphine/naloxone prescribing.
-In collaboration with clinic leadership, implementation and proper execution of telepsychiatry services for select patient encounters.
-Participation and leadership in regular clinic meetings, including high risk rounds, staff meetings, budget and operational meetings, and clinic leadership meetings.
-Serve as the clinic liaison to the city s psychiatric hospitals (both acute and state) and CPEP/emergency rooms.
-Participate in regular supervision and strategic planning sessions with the Chief Medical Officer.
-In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, design, build, implement and supervise psychiatric and psychiatric NP training programs.
-Serve as the clinical lead for the Incident Review Committee.
-At least 70% of their time per week is dedicated to direct patient care unless otherwise directed by senior leadership.
-Helps maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring proper use and disposal of medical supplies/equipment as required, adheres to infection control protocols, and notifies their supervisor immediately of any potential safety hazard identified in the office/client-care environment.
-Any other duties as required by the senior clinical leadership.
