American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic charting experience and dysrhythmia interpretation skills.
Responsibilities- Work in the ICU within a large acute care hospital setting
- Care for adult ICU/Oncology patients with an average census of 21 and a ratio of 1:2
- No chemotherapy administered; procedures include management of central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, and bedside phlebotomy
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00–07:30) with every other weekend required
- May float within scope to oncology floors, oncology service lines, or other ICUs as needed
- Uses Epic for EMR documentation; experience required
- Unit utilizes Pyxis for medication management and SBAR for handoff communication
- No on-call requirement
- Team includes interpretation services, IV teams, pharmacy, PT, social services, radiology, respiratory therapists, rapid response teams, and patient transport
- First-time travelers will be considered for this assignment
- No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract; no RTO during orientation week
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Parking fees and arrangements vary by shift, with specific instructions for orientation and night shifts
- Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching hospital environment
- Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break afterward
- Active MO or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
- 2 years of ICU experience required
- BCLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN preferred
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam with demonstrated ability in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in managing multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central/PICC lines, cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP, ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, suctioning, wound vacs, and infection control required
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
- No prior permanent employment with the health system within the past year
