HSE Intern supports the Health, Safety & Environment team by assisting with workplace inspections, safety documentation, training materials, incident investigation, compliance tracking, and environmental initiatives. The role provides hands-on experience in safety management systems, regulatory compliance, and CAPA monitoring while attending meetings and helping run safety awareness programs. Ideal for students in occupational health & safety, environmental science, engineering or related fields, with basic HSE knowledge and Microsoft Office skills.
Job Summary
The HSE Intern will support the Health, Safety & Environment department in daily activities aimed at promoting a safe and compliant workplace. This role involves assisting with inspections, documentation, safety training, incident reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will gain practical hands-on experience in safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting workplace safety inspections and hazard assessments.
- Help update and maintain HSE documentation, records, and reports.
- Support the development and delivery of safety training materials (toolbox talks, presentations).
- Participate in incident investigations by gathering information and preparing documentation.
- Help ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards, and internal policies.
- Assist in promoting safety awareness programs and campaigns.
- Monitor and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support environmental initiatives such as waste management, recycling, and sustainability programs.
- Attend HSE meetings and document minutes, follow-up actions, and observations.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the HSE Manager or Safety Officer.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of HSE principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to team goals.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar HSE management systems.
- Experience with safety reporting tools or audit software.
- Previous internship or project work in HSE (optional).
