Job Summary:
The Inpatient Dietitian provides comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutrition assessments for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, with documentation completed in the medical record.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess nutritional status using screening tools, including the Malnutrition Screening Tool
Diagnose malnutrition and develop nutrition interventions
Monitor patient outcomes to improve nutrition status, reduce medical costs, and decrease length of stay
Implement and modify diet and nutrition-related orders using physician- or facility-driven protocols, including:
Diet and texture modifications
Oral nutrition supplements and dietary supplements
Nutrition-related labs, medications, and education/counseling
Manage nutrition support therapies, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, such as:
Formula selection and rate adjustments
Addition of medications, vitamins, and minerals
Supplemental water for enteral nutrition
Participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
Attend departmental meetings, staff development activities, patient care rounds, and professional programs
