Position Type: Locum Physician Pediatric Hospitalist
A hospital in Grass Valley is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist for 24-hour call coverage in the newborn nursery, Family Birth Center, ED consults, and limited inpatient admissions. This role supports newborn care and pediatric emergency needs.
• 24-hour call: 7 AM 7 AM
• Urgent need for: January 1 3
• Work includes newborn rounds, high-risk delivery attendance, ED consults, and rare inpatient admissions
• Average callback: 0.75 hours
• EMR: Cerner
• Support team includes L&D nurses, OB/GYN, anesthesia, ED physicians, hospitalists, and tele-intensivists
• No NICU on site
• Board Certified or BE Pediatrician (within 5 years)
• Active state medical license Required
• DEA required during credentialing
• Must have privileges at a Joint Commission (or equivalent) accredited hospital 2 of the last 4 years
• Must be able to perform neonatal resuscitation and assist in pediatric emergencies
• Malpractice: Clean preferred
• Must be available for the exact dates at name clear
• 24-hour call coverage (on call, not in-house)
• 4 hours per day allotted for patient evaluations or call-ins
• Nursery volume: deliveries per month
• Duties include:
Newborn rounds
High-risk / concerned delivery attendance
ED pediatric consultations
Occasional inpatient pediatric admissions
• No circumcisions required (usually done post-discharge)
• Credentialing: Standard process; no secondary facility credentialing
