Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with high acuity critical care skills, including pediatric experience, for a teaching hospital assignment requiring BLS, ACLS, PALS, and recent Epic proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a large teaching hospital's Post Anesthesia Care Unit
- Care for post-anesthesia patients across all age groups, including pediatrics
- High acuity patient population requiring management of art lines, multiple titrating drips, and cardiac monitoring
- Works with Epic EMR; Epic experience within the past 2 years is required
- 10-hour evening shifts with start times 10:00 and 12:00, including some Saturdays
- Holiday and weekend coverage is required
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle required due to lack of public transportation; all-season or snow tires recommended November through April
- Responsibilities include the full scope of post-anesthesia care for diverse patient populations, focusing on critical care needs
- Infusion specialty experience is preferred but not required
- No block scheduling is permitted
- COVID and Flu declinations are accepted with proper documentation
- Personal vehicle or rental with appropriate tires is necessary due to region and weather conditions
Requirements
- Active VT or compact RN license required; must apply for VT licensure within 24 hours if not already held
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required
- Minimum 2-5 years’ recent PACU critical care experience required
- Demonstrated experience with high acuity patients, pediatric care, art lines, multiple titrating drips, and cardiac monitoring
- Recent experience working in a large, teaching hospital setting
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
