A locum tenens Board-Certified Non-Invasive Cardiologist is needed to provide full-time inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and call coverage until a permanent physician is hired. Responsibilities include non-invasive cardiology care, EKG interpretation, and advanced heart failure support with supervision of advanced practice clinicians. The position requires specific certifications, local licensure, and experience with ventricular assist devices and advanced heart failure treatments.
Seeking a Board-Certified Non-Invasive Cardiologist to provide locum coverage while the facility recruits a permanent second physician. Coverage is needed ASAP and will continue until a permanent provider is onboarded, supporting inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and call responsibilities.
Schedule & CoverageFull-time coverage (Monday Friday plus call)
Call ratio: 1:6
Coverage duration: ASAP until permanent physician is hired
Inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and call coverage
Adult and geriatric patient population
Average of 10 clinic patients per day
Average of inpatient admissions per physician per day
One cardiologist currently in the group, with additional cardiology support present
Supervision of 4 Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs)
Epic EMR
Non-invasive cardiology care
Interpretation of electrocardiograms (EKGs)
Advanced heart failure support (non-invasive; no procedural interventions)
Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 120 days
Local provider required (mileage-only reimbursement)
Board Certified in Non-Invasive Cardiology
Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) certified
Advanced Heart Failure (AHF) fellowship with LVAD experience
Active Virginia medical license
DEA registration
ACLS certification
Clean background required (temporary privileges may be considered)
