Required qualifications include board certification, state medical license, and experience in neonatal resuscitation and emergency pediatric care.
This position is a 24-hour Pediatric/Newborn Hospitalist call coverage role at a Family Birth Center in CA. The clinician will manage newborn rounding, attend high-risk deliveries, provide ED consultations, and admit pediatric patients when necessary (rare). The role is designed to fill coverage gaps and supplement the facility s locum pool.

Shift Structure:24-hour call, 7am 7am
Call Expectations: On-call from home with 4 gratis hours/day for patient care or call-ins
Average Callback Hours: 0.75 hours
Setting: Family Birth Center (L&D, Nursery), Emergency Department, Inpatient
Primary Duties:
Daily newborn rounds
Coverage for newborn/delivery needs
ED consultations for pediatric patients
Rare admissions of pediatric patients from the ED to inpatient
Delivery Attendance:
Attend high-risk or concerning deliveries; RN & RT attend all deliveries
C-sections as needed
Annual Delivery Volume: deliveries/year ( per month)
Required Clinical Skills & Procedures:
Neonatal resuscitation and associated procedures
Assist with pediatric resuscitations in ED or inpatient settings
Potential airway management, venous access, and other applicable procedures
Procedures Not Required: Circumcisions (typically done outpatient after discharge)
No NICU on site
Coverage Areas: Nursery and ED consults (no inpatient pediatrics department)
EMR: Cerner
Support Staff: L&D nurses, OB/Gyn, Anesthesia, ED physicians, Hospitalists, Tele-Intensivists
Reason for Need: Coverage gaps; expansion of locum pool
Timeframe: Standard; provider must have privileges at a Joint Commission accredited hospital for 2 of the last 4 years
Additional Facilities: No additional credentialing
Billing Enrollment: Not in lieu of an existing provider (60-day rule does not apply)
Board Certification: BC or BE within 5 years Required
State Medical License:Required
DEA: Required by time of credentialing
Malpractice Coverage: Highly preferred
Availability: Must be fully available for Jan 1 3 only at name clear
