Shift: Nights – 3x12 (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Float: Yes – to other OSU units as needed
Orientation: 24 hours
Locals Accepted: Yes (same rate)
? PCU-LEVEL NEURO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – HARD STOP
Must have recent PCU experience with neuro patients
Minimum 2 years PCU/Med-Surg RN experience
BLS required
NIHSS required
ACLS preferred
Epic charting experience required
Compact or Ohio RN license required at submission
Dedicated Stroke & Neuro Stepdown Unit
Adult patient population
Unit also cares for select Med-Surg patients with neuro diagnoses
Daily census ~29 patients
Strong interdisciplinary support (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Rapid Response)
CVA / Stroke
Intracranial hemorrhage
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Post-TPA/TNK care
Pre- & post-neurosurgical patients
Craniotomies
EEG monitoring
Lumbar drains
Neuro assessments & monitoring
Cardiac telemetry & dysrhythmia interpretation
IV starts & IV therapy
Central line, PICC & arterial line management
Blood product administration
Heparin protocols
Titration of cardiac drips
Feeding tube care
HFNC & oxygen therapy
Wound care / wound vacs (preferred)
Charting: Epic
Monitoring: Unit-based telemetry
⚠️ Ohio fingerprinting is URGENT and mandatory
Must be completed immediately after contract signing
Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date
RTO must be disclosed with submission
2 professional references required (1 manager/director)
Former OSU employees eligible after 6 months
Current OSU employees not eligible for travel roles
