Job Summary - MS/Tele 3rd Med Surg Nurse (3x12s PM 1900-0730)

- Provide nursing care on a 10-bed Medical-Surgical unit with telemetry monitoring for up to 4 patients.
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of chronic and acute medical conditions (e.g., COVID, CVA, diabetes, renal disease, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis).
- Care for post-surgical patients (excluding major neurosurgical and cardiovascular procedures).
- Utilize telemetry skills to monitor and interpret/manage dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications using Pyxis system; document/report with SBAR communication.
- Float to 2 other Med Surg units as needed.
- Work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), including every 2nd to 3rd weekend.
- Collaborate with rapid response teams and participate in IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and pre/post hemodialysis management.
- Perform phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and PICC line management; start IVs as needed.
- Manage colostomies, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound care, and wound vacs.
- Use special equipment such as safe patient handling equipment and bladder scanners.
- Follow isolation precautions and administer oxygen therapies (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks).
- Wear navy blue scrubs as part of the dress code.
- Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience.
- Required: Minimum 2 years’ experience, BLS certification.
- Open to first-time travelers.
