Description
OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) to support the mental health and behavioral needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The BIS conducts functional behavioral assessments and develops behavior support plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create functional behavioral assessments and behavior support plans using baseline and ongoing data.
- Provide individual and group counseling.
- Present psychotropic medication and restrictive behavior plans to the Human Rights Committee.
- Train staff on implementing and monitoring behavior support plans.
- Coordinate referrals for psychiatric care, evaluations, and counseling.
- Serve as a liaison among IDT members, clinicians, hospitals, programs, and families.
- Maintain required certifications and complete SCIP or PROMOTE trainer certification.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s in a clinical or psychology-related field with training in assessment and behavior support planning.
- Minimum five years of experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
