Setting: Hospital and ASC
Case Types: Mostly General, Endoscopy, Orthopedics, Urology, High-risk OB (including VBACs), GYN, Oncology, Liver, some Vascular, ENT, Radiology with anesthesia, Cosmetics, Podiatry, Pulmonary, Very light Cardiac (TEE and brain-back). Endo primarily at the ASC.
Schedule: Monday through Friday. Mix of 8-hour and 10-hour shifts. First case starts at 7:30 AM, end time varies (typically 3:30 or 5:30 PM). Weeknight call starts at 5:30 PM. Shifts and call are evenly rotated among providers.
Call Expectations: 2 providers cover weeknight and weekend call. Approximately 3 weeknights per month. Approximately 7 weekends per year. Primary Call: In-house (anesthesia call room or hospital housing), post-call day off. Secondary Call: Within 30-minute radius, no post-call day off but first-out peel system.
