The Monitor Technician is responsible for continuous surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and promptly notifying clinical staff of any cardiac rhythm changes. This role requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Completion of a monitor technician course or competency exam and basic computer skills are necessary, with CRAT certification preferred.

The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances. Works cooperatively as part of a team. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.Position Details:
Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. and/or current Mercy coworker.
Monitor tech course completion and/or passing score of 85% on monitor tech competency exam.
Other: Basic computer skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure is a must.
Preferred Experience: Experience preferred but not mandatory.
Preferred Certifications: CRAT certification preferred.
