- Shifts per Week: 5
- Shift Duration: 12-hour days (typically 7 AM 3 PM)
- Estimated Hours per Week: 60
- On-Call: Pager call required (6-10 shifts/month, weeknights and weekends)
- Setting: Community hospital with 5 anesthesia rooms
- Case Types: General anesthesia, orthopedic, OB, colorectal, cataracts, cystoscopy, ENT, gynecology, podiatry, thoracic, GI, pacemakers, TEE, cardioversion
- Supervision: MDs supervise CRNAs (CRNA to MD ratio 3:4); MDs also perform their own cases
- Charting System: iPro and paper/pen
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine
- Completion of an approved residency in Anesthesiology
- Active physician license or willingness to obtain Connecticut medical license
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Anesthesiology
- Minimum 1 year of clinical anesthesia experience required
- Ability to participate in required pager call rotation (6-10 shifts/month)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Direct and coordinate activities in the Anesthesia Department
- Deliver anesthesia care and medical management for surgical and procedural patients
- Conduct pre-anesthesia assessments and obtain informed consent
- Discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients
- Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Monitor patients physiological condition during procedures
- Perform clinical interventions as needed
- Supervise and collaborate with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)
- Participate in pager call rotation (weeknights and weekends)
