The Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner provides specialized advanced clinical care for patients undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, managing hematologic and oncologic populations. Responsibilities include patient assessments, treatment planning, diagnostic test ordering, medication prescription, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves patient education, care coordination, and support for clinical research protocols.
Provide advanced clinical care for patients undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplantation
Manage hematologic and oncologic patient populations
Perform patient assessments, follow-ups, and treatment planning
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
Prescribe medications and manage supportive care
Collaborate with hematologists, oncologists, transplant physicians, nursing staff, and support teams
Participate in patient education, survivorship care, and care coordination
Support clinical research protocols when applicable
Active Nurse Practitioner license
National Board Certification (ANCC / AANP)
Proven experience in Hematology/Oncology
Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) or Stem Cell Transplant experience required
Strong knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and transplant protocols
Excellent communication and patient-care skills
Prior experience in academic medical centers or transplant-focused programs
Oncology certification (OCN or related) preferred but not required
Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license
