Our job summary

Under RN direction, the Patient Safety Assistant (sitter) provides continuous bedside observation to ensure patient safety, prevent falls and self-harm, and alerts clinical staff to emergent events or behavior changes. When not assigned to sitters, the role supports the unit by distributing and restocking supplies. Position emphasizes compassionate presence, patient monitoring, and reporting while working within a hospital healthcare system.

Overview

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) the Patient Sitter provides a high level of customer service and support to Carle patients by assuring patient safety at bedside and by distributing supplies throughout the department when there are no sitter needs.

Responsibilities

Sits with patient to assure safety. Provides calm and caring presence at bedside. Informs RN, HCT, or next available medical personnel of any emergent event or behavior change experienced by the patient. Constantly monitor patient visually to ensure patient does not fall or pull lines / tube or attempt to harm themselves. Stocks supplies throughout the department when there is not a sitter need.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $15per hour - $24.32per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
