Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down RN with strong cardiac and Epic experience for a night shift position.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a 44-bed Intermediate cardiac stepdown unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablation, acute chest pain/MI, with some med/surg overflow such as detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, and respiratory failure
• Typical patient ratio is 1:4
• Work schedule is 12-hour night shifts from 1900 to 0730
• Every other weekend and every other holiday work required
• Floating to all inpatient units as needed
• May be placed on call during low census periods with a minimum 2-hour callback
• Responsible for managing a fast-paced, high turnover cardiac stepdown unit
• Independence, resilience, and the ability to manage change are essential
• All scrub colors are permitted
• During flu season, those declining flu or COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times as per mandatory policy
• Unit is closed during certain holidays; hours are not guaranteed the week of orientation

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must have at least 1 year of recent strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU/Intermediate, Cardiac ICU) and 2 years IMC/PCU/Tele experience
• Previous experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro Drips required
• At least one previous travel assignment must be completed
• Must have 1 year of recent Epic charting experience
• Must be able to pass EKG test in first week of hire
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
