Position Overview
- Location: Portsmouth, VA
- Schedule: Part-Time (3 days per week) or Full time schedules available
Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Must be Board Certified (BC) in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, or Board Eligible (BE) and within two (2) years of residency completion.
- Experience: Prior experience in an outpatient primary care setting is preferred, but we are open to considering stellar new graduates with a strong interest in outpatient medicine.
- License: Must possess or be willing to obtain an Active Virginia Medical License and DEA registration.
- Mindset: Demonstrate a positive and collaborative mindset with a commitment to team-based care and excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities
The Primary Care Physician will provide comprehensive, traditional "bread and butter" primary care, focusing on continuity of care and preventive medicine.
- Patient Panels:
- Family Medicine (FM): Treat patients across the lifespan, ages 5 and up.
- Internal Medicine (IM): Treat adult patients, ages 18 and up.
- Primary Care Duties:
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, cold/flu) through comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
- Provide essential preventative care, health maintenance services, and patient education, including annual wellness exams and routine immunizations.
- Accurately order, interpret, and ensure timely follow-up on all diagnostic tests, lab results, and imaging studies.
- Effectively manage all patient medical documentation using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Coordinate care with specialists, manage referrals, and perform minor office procedures (e.g., skin tag removal, joint injections) as appropriate for training.
