Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position requiring BLS and oncology experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 24-bed hospital med/surg oncology and women's surgical unit
- Night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Patient ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5
- Standard unit equipment is used
- EMR system is Cerner
- Rare call requirements
- Floating may occur to other med-surg units, though it is infrequent
- Staff are required to work 6 weekend days per schedule
- Primary duties include caring for oncology and women's surgical patients
- Occasional pelvic exams, echoes, and thoracentesis performed on the unit
- Team structure includes RNs, CNAs, a clinical nurse coordinator, and a unit secretary
- Navy, white, or a combination of both colors required for RN attire
- Team player attitude and willingness to learn are valued
- Standard hospital policies and guidelines apply
Requirements
- Active RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- At least 1 year of recent oncology RN experience strongly preferred
- Chemo certification is preferred
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
- Must provide valid US Social Security Number and date of birth
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
